Signaling control system
Easy to manage, cost-efficient and future-proof core signaling networks
Our Steering of Roaming solution offers Communication Service Providers cost savings and the ability to provide great service experience for their subscribers by setting a “preferred roaming”.
Steering of Roaming is a signaling network-based solution that allows home operators to direct traffic to the roaming partners with which they have the best agreements. This is a powerful way to reduce the costs of outbound roaming. Preferred and optimized roaming brings tangible cost savings as the home network (HPLMN) has full control over which roaming network (VPLMN) is used.
This is all an automatic, real-time procedure resulting in better end-user experience, because subscribers will receive the same service level (e.g. 4G access) abroad that they are used to on their home network.
We offer operators the most cost-efficient Steering of Roaming solution on the market. Unbeatable scalability of capacity and freedom to reuse licenses for newer network generations (2G, 3G, 4G, etc.) ensure a quick return on investment and efficient support for operations now and in the future.
Lead Product Manager
Always use the cheapest roaming partner available in the location. Blacklisting helps to avoid unwanted roaming networks.
Serve your subscribers with roaming partners with the best coverage, quality and features in a certain location.
With easy to use RESTful API’s for system provisioning and operations, it is easy to also leverage existing operational support and management systems.
Our Steering of Roaming solution intercepts incoming Update Location requests from roaming partners in real-time. Based on pre-configured rules, the Steering of Roaming solution will either accept or reject the incoming Update Location message. If the Update Location message is rejected consecutive times, the mobile device will automatically select the “next” roaming network.
Preferred roaming ensures that CSPs can always use roaming partners with which they have the best agreements. Automatic selection procedure results not only in cost-savings but also great end-user experience, because subscribers receive the same service level (e.g. 4G access) abroad that they are used to on their home network.
The solution helps in predicting the volume of traffic for each roaming partner and maintaining roaming agreements based on the volume of calls.
The possibilities for choosing a roaming partner are numerous, including:
The scalable and powerful virtual telecom grade platform used as the SoR backbone enables multiple core network applications to execute at the same time. It is suitable for containerized, virtual and bare-metal environments.
With a license extension, you can add new network functions such as STP, DRA, MNP, and Signaling Firewall. Benefit from the shared capacity and forget struggling with capacity safety margins for each application separately.
Experience unrivalled scalability (and redundancy) of capacity for SoR and multiple other network applications such as STP, DRA, MNP, and Signaling Firewall. It is easy to add or remove executing instances to scale the capacity up and down.
There are ready-made integrations of the ESC with numerous virtualized platforms such as VMware, OpenStack and selected proprietary virtualized platforms as well as containerized platforms.
The advanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) makes it easy to operate Steering of Roaming. In one GUI, you’ll get:
The Steering of Roaming solution comes with an easy-to-use REST API for provisioning. Also .csv files work for bulk provisioning.
The Steering of Roaming solution is powered with the virtual telecom grade platform, TietoEVRY’s Evolved Signaling Controller (ESC), which is suitable for both virtualized and bare-metal solutions. Multiple core network applications, such as STP, DRA, MNP and Signaling Firewall, can simultaneously co-execute in the same platform. Benefit from the shared capacity – and forget struggling with capacity safety margins for each application separately.
