Tieto has been acknowledged and recertified by the Swiss EDGE Certified Foundation our initiatives in pursuing gender equality in our operations in Sweden. The new assessment shows that we have improved in all areas.
In December 2015 Tieto became the first IT company in the world to receive the first degree of EDGE certification – a leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality which assesses policies, practices and numbers across five different areas of analysis: equal pay for equivalent work, recruitment and promotion, leadership development training and mentoring, flexible working and company culture. This re-certification is measuring the business in 2018, and the certification then is valid from now, in 2019.
“The 2019 re-certification proves that we walk the talk in all EDGE categories to constantly work towards a gender equal workplace. Since the last certification in 2017 we have more women across all levels. We have improved our way of working and policies in leadership development and mentoring, as well as flexible working. The EDGE survey shows that our employees feel and recognize the positive development", says Angela Kristiansson, Inclusion Lead at Tieto.
According to the survey; 92 percent of women and 88 percent of men believe gender equality is important for Tieto to remain competitive in the market.
Next steps to tackle will be an even more active gender composition management, pushing us to communicate more transparently on gender pay gaps and promotion criteria and to implement the bias training for our people that was tested during 2019. The detailed action list will be the foundation of our Inclusion Action plan 2020.
“Every re-certification is an important milestone for us and a confirmation that we are keeping our eyes on the ball to strive for a diverse and equal workforce with equal opportunities. This is a marathon", says Angela Kristiansson.
